Mike Szymanski has been deftly leaning into his right brain, left brain power dynamic since he was kid. The Two Roads principal admits he asked a lot of questions growing up, and wanted to “get smart” on everything that popped into his young brain — traits that serve him well at Two Roads. Solving problems, building something, and trying something new offer a never-boring balance of art and science.
Over the course of his career, Mike has put his penchant for creative problem-solving to good use. He began his professional journey as a technology consultant at Deloitte. Later, as a manager under Thought Ensemble’s banner, he helped C-level executives embrace tech innovations to transform their businesses and bottom line. He also served as a commercialization and innovation advisor at Cornell University, shepherding the projects and investments of its prestigious engineering department. Mike was introduced to Two Roads through a colleague and since day one, he’s been eager to help the firm grow into what it is today.
Now one of the leaders who helps steer Two Roads, Mike clearly remembers the day he first met colleagues Gable Roby and Seth Plunk. “I thought they were amazing and wanted to be part of what they were building,” he says.
Mike joined Two Roads in 2018 as a senior consultant and employee #9. Working alongside Kelly Purdom, he absorbed Two Roads’ well-honed leadership style. From the start, he’s been inspired by the firm’s robust creativity, its free and collaborative spirit, culture of empowerment, and willingness to explore new paths. Even before he was elevated to the leadership circle in 2024, he found his colleagues were always eager to hear his thoughts and opinions. “That’s not the case in most places,” he notes.
During Mike’s tenure, his technical and creative problem-solving skills have helped deliver solutions designed to create lasting impact for many Two Roads clients. His deep investment in both his team and clients has not gone unnoticed—Consulting Magazine recognized him as a 2025 Rising Star for Excellence in Client Service.
“We’ve been managing some very large initiatives for our transportation client,” he adds. “Through our technical cloud expertise, strategic management of their portfolio, and executive communications guidance, we’ve become a trusted advisor for their leadership.”
